I was listening to a lot of spiritual jazz, a lot of Pharaoh, and Pharaoh and Alice, and John Coltrane with Pharaoh... What I was playing on guitar changed, was thinking a lot about the back up playing of Sonny Sharrock on Tauhid... Was trying to immerse myself in the vision or vibe of those records, I got John to add these drums to these unstructured ideas, and used the pallet to create something... I knew he would be down for the cause... Perhaps its a background for an invisible Sax to take leads on... I dont know... We will eventually record again, got a lot of ideas and time these days anyways...

Also -- On all the CDRs and LPs it says Astral Traveling was written by Pharaoh Sanders because the version I was listening/playing along with was on "Thembi," however I learned that I picked one of the songs on that record he didn't write, I should really read more liners and pay attention but I am an idiot... So credit goes to Lonnie Liston Smith, not that its a "cover" by the normal sense, but if you listen I think some of the major melodic elements are there, and a lot of improv and fluctuations on those, who knows....
